Meet Claire

Claire is a highly specialised Dietitian with over 17 years of clinical experience and a deep passion for gastroenterology. She currently works as a Clinical Lead Dietitian for the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, where she has spent the past seven years developing and leading a Dietitian‑led IBS service. This innovative service supports individuals living with IBS and other disorders of gut–brain interaction, ensuring they receive timely, evidence‑based and compassionate care. Claire works closely with Consultants, GPs and multidisciplinary teams to deliver truly integrated patient support.

A graduate of the University of Ulster (2009), Claire began her career in England as a Band 5 Dietitian at Rochdale Infirmary before progressing to a Specialist role in gastrointestinal surgery at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Since returning to Northern Ireland, she has gained extensive experience across a wide range of clinical settings including weight management, bariatric surgery, diabetes, intensive care, neurosurgery and cancer care. Her broad clinical background has shaped her into a confident and highly competent practitioner skilled in oral, enteral and parenteral nutrition support, as well as the delivery of complex therapeutic diets.

Claire’s gastroenterology expertise spans the nutritional management of conditions such as coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), pancreatic insufficiency, liver disease, and hepatobiliary disorders, alongside both upper and lower GI surgical care. She has also completed the King’s College London Low FODMAP training course, further strengthening her specialist skills in supporting clients with IBS and functional gut disorders.

She is committed to professional development and enjoys training students and mentoring junior staff. Claire chairs the Regional Gastroenterology Dietitians Group, has presented her work at conferences, and has contributed as a guest lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast.

Above all, Claire is dedicated to providing exceptional, patient‑centred care. She values working with people from all walks of life and takes pride in creating personalised, practical and realistic nutrition plans that empower clients to improve their health and wellbeing. Her warm, empathetic approach helps clients feel supported as they work together toward meaningful and sustainable change.
